Morning,

I have my sky router in the dinning room ( front of the house) and the lounge is at the back of the house. I'm looking to extended wireless signal in the lounge so we get a better signal for the laptop and smart phones. As well connect the sky hd box up to the Internet so we can access anytime plus.

The only way and best way seems to be home plugs but this is where I've got a bit lost and hoping someone could help me out please.

I take it one of the plugs goes into the plug socket next to the router and you use a RJ45 cable to connect them together?

And this is the same case in the lounge to connect the sky box up?
But with regards to this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-056-TP&groupid=46&catid=1604&subcat=. TL-WPA281KIT would I need a wireless adapter or does the plug have this built in so this is all I need so the phones and laptop would connect to it?

Hoping someone can explaine this for me please or give any other suggestions .

Thank you.

You will need to plug the lounge RJ45 into some type of wireless access point / switch.

Router -> Homeplug -> Homeplug -> Wireless Access point

You can call sky up and get a wireless adapter for your SkyHD box for use with sky anytime +.
If you didn't want to use that then you will need to buy an access point with a wired and wireless connection. or just buy a router with AP mode and use that .

As it stand on its own that kit with provide network for one wired device.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

The problem with the sky wireless adapter is that it's £50+ and i pay enough to sky and don't wish to pay for anything else off them really.

Is that plug package worth it or is it worth getting some a little cheaper that will do the same job?

Would this do for a wireless access point http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-006-TP?

You could always get that kit, and for the sky box, just get a singular 211 and connect that to the others.

Thanks for your reply.

Would this be better than the TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless Lite N Access Point ( posted above) whats the advantages of using this over that?

Sorry for any silly questions but i'm not a network expert by a long way and just want better wireless signal and sky anytime in the lounge.

Thanks

It's more reliable because it's wired connection, I've used TP link's wireless AP's myself and they do suffer from dropouts. Not entirely sure what causes it but they happen.

Right so let me get this right in my head i buy ;-
TP-Link 200Mbps AV200 Mini Powerline Adapter http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-043-TP&groupid=46&catid=1604&subcat= Put this next to my router and plug it in via network cable

Next i buy this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-056-TP&groupid=46&catid=1604&subcat= TP-Link 300Mbps AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit I plug the one box into a plug socket next to my sky box and connect that together .

This part I'm confused about now

The other plug i just plug in the lounge say behind the corner sofa and his will transmit a wireless signal which i can jump on and use? And it will see my network named matirx say with no issues at all and it should be fully wireless signal if I'm understanding this correctly

So the TP-Link 300Mbps AV200 Wireless N Powerline Extender Starter Kit the plugs are both different from each other?

So all in all i get two power plugs which connect to router, sky box via RJ45 and the other power plug will transmit a wireless signal which only needs to be plugged in to a socket in the lounge correct?

And this is easy to set up sorry to sound dumb but i can't get it right in my head to how this works .

Thanks.

Could anyone confirm I'm correct in what I'm thinking above for me please so i can place an order.

Thank you.
