Homeplugs and 1>2 ethernet splitter

I have 2 PC's i want to plug into the same homeplug, do simple cheapo (£5) ethernet splitters (1 male RJ45 to 2 female RJ45) work ok?
Or would it only work with an ethernet switch (if at all...)?

I have a Devolo 85Mbps homeplug setup.

It'll work with a switch, I wouldn't expect it to work with those splitters. You'd need another one at the other end to split it anyway.

OK, looking into this some more i'd agree!
So to do it via a network switch all i need is use a switch at the 2 PC/homeplug end and my homeplug -> router end can stay "as is", nothing else needed?

Yep, a cheap 5 port switch to go near the two machines and a couple of patch cables will sort you right out.

Connect the homeplug near the PC's to the swtich and then connect up the PC's to the other ports.

Personally I prefer HP's cheap switches (metal cases, better PSU's, lifetime warranty), but this is even cheaper and will do the job for you:
