Homeplugs causing IP profile change?

Afternoon all,

I've been running my fibre broadband for a few months and it appears to have remained solid at around a 71Mb line profile.
I purchased some Solwise 1200AV2 homeplugs for using for the PC upstairs, PS4 and PS3. I was having issues with getting them working at first as the max download speed I could achieve was roughly 1Mb. This has since sorted itself and has been pulling in files around 7.2MB/s. This has since dropped to roughly 6.5MB/s and my IP profile has now gone from 71Mb to 62Mb. It went from 68.8Mb to 61.2Mb in the space of 8hrs.

For the record I have only powered off the ECI modem twice in the past week so I doubt it is due to me disconnecting etc.

Can the IP profile fluctuate or should that remain pretty constant?
I'm guessing the homeplugs are causing interference with the modem which is causing issues to my profile?

The modem and router are plugged into the rear of the homeplug via the filtered passthrough connection.

My fibre has been consistently at 71mb since install but only since installing homeplugs it has had some deterioration. I'm guessing its interfering with the modem or similar. Im tempted to leave it over the next few days to see if my profile drops further then revert back to normal setup to recover the line profile.

Ip profile has increased today from 48Mb to 63Mb and ping times dropped 10ms. Still another drop to go so I suspect by the end of the week I should be back to normal.

Your IP profile is determined by the quality of the connection between your modem device and the cabinet, not what is installed on your home network.

From reading several other similar issues with FTTC and homeplugs, They cause havoc with ECI modems causing SNR to drop. The cab picks this up and compensates to keep the line stable.

Neither did I unfortunately. I tried ferrite beads on the supplies etc but it was still causing it to drop from around 6db to around 1-2db.

Never mind, At least I tried.

Too late. They went back and I got my money back. Too much faffing around considering they have an inbuilt filter which didn't help. Several people on other threads still noticed an snr drop with a mains filter, ferrite beads and shielded cables. I'm going to get new carpets so when the time comes I'll run cables along the edge.

I've been using Homeplugs for years, (Devolo) never had an issue my SNR has always been fairly stable on FTTC.

I've had a few folk comment on the devolo ones. Maybe they are better. Who knows. Don't really feel like pumping another hundred quid or so into devolo ones to find out they don't agree either. I'll have a think about it while my line recovers.

So which devolo ones are people using? I'm tempted to try the 650+ triple when I get back. I could try the rf protected power strip and see how I get on.
