Homeplugs question

I currently have a homeplug powerline adaptor pair connecting me to my router\modem.

My flatmate would also like the same in her room. Whats the best way to do this. Do we need 4 homeplugs? Or does three work (one in my room, one her room, one at the router\modem).

If three works then do we also need a switching hub at the router\modem? Presumably we both can't sit on the same port on the router\modem?

So I'd have the router with two cables running to the hub, with one cable running to the homeplug nearby, then another homeplug at both my PC, and my flatmates.

Is that the best way to do it?

Cheers,

With my old kit (Delovo), you could add extensions one at a time so you'd only need three adapters. No extra switch or hub was necessary. Most manufacturers will have documentation on their website about how to extend the network.

As above

a real router will be able to allocate as many ip addresses and connections as are needed

it does not care if it does that through one or several physical ethernet ports on the router.

within reason the homeplugs also dont care how many other homeplugs or computers are connected to them they just send data onwards and extract it if they are the target

so yes you will only need 3 compatible homeplugs and a router with a single ethernet port
