Hi,

I use HOMEPORT at the moment around my house and at one exit(?) I have a PS3 and a SKY box.

I don't want to use two HOMEPORTS here so, how do I connect SKY and the PS3 to the same place?

I put 'switch' in the title as I think that is what I need, but I'm not sure.

Regards

Lee

I have no idea what "HOMEPORT" is but I assume that it is some sort of ADSL Modem in which case you will need to buy and connect a basic unmanaged Switch to it. If it is used simply to connect various devices to the Internet rather than to share data between devices, speed is not going to be an issue so something as basic as the £9 Edimax ES-3205P 5-Port Ethernet Switch and a few Ethernet cables would suffice. As I say, I have no idea what a HOMEPORT is (possibly a Powerline Adaptor?), so I may be spouting absolute rubbish.

By homeport do you mean home plug power line things?

It will be fine. I have a switch at either end of mine and it has no issues. Any cheap Ethernet switch will do.

Thanks Guys,

I was trying so hard not to make the same mistake in calling it a HOMEPORT again (as I didn in another related thread) that I made that exact mistake.

You were right in assuming that I meant HOMEPLUG/POWERLINE.

Thanks for the replies.
