Ok I need to sort a cheap homeserver up. I need sata (6gb/s ideally) about 5+ ports. I want to rN Aa media server Mediaportal back+front. I want satelite pcie card DVBS2 and handle ip cams.
I woud like esxi to run ubuntu (zoneminder) and Win server.
I have 2x 4GB DDR2 (IIRC) RAM
My ideas
HPMICROSERVER hp 54l but its limited with PCIE but stil an option and I have nl40 (mobo faulty)
option 2. My sisters cpu (amd am3 dualcore) and buy a mobo ram, psu I have.
option 3. go for FM2 mobo and cpu?
Option 4 is use an old PC its 32bit amd 3200 wouldneed more ram and cheap gfx
Option 2 seems the best I just need a good mobo and 4 port rram as I can upgrade 8gb to 16gb. I have 2 cases - a silver gaming one that came with the amd 3200 32 bit comp. I do have a COSMOS 2 which is too much probably.
I can double up the PC ti run frontend in living room, then rasp pis, etc as clients.
Open to matx mobo/cases. Sorry about typing using an Ipad
