Honda Hornet CB600 F Insurance Question

When insuring my bike I was asked if the bike is a Honda CB600 F. I said yes, because it is.

They then requested some photographs and are now trying to charge me another £53 for the policy because, as they put it, it's a Honda Hornet and not a 'standard' CB600 F.

I'm pretty sure the CB600 F IS the Hornet, regardless of which year?

In their latest letter they say:
We acknowledge receipt of your recent email with thanks and would be obliged if
you could note our comments below.

We can advise that although we appreciate the bikes are very similar the model
selected was one that was manufactured from 2000 onwards, the Hornet wasn't
made until 2005 onwards. The later model does have an increased BHP and
therefore your insurers are entitled to charge an additional premium for this.

Basically on my insurance document it says Honda CB600 F, but since seeing the photos they're insisting the CB600 F and the Hornet are different bikes?

Am I wrong here, or are they being stupid?

Thanks.

I've sent them links!! They completely ignored that and are insisting I pay them the £53.

I've emailed Honda now asking for confirmation, hopefully they will accept that.

Are you sure you haven't made a mistake in what you've told the insurance company when taking out your insurance?.

You see there was a Honda CBF600 commuter, which was dropped by Honda last year, came in both naked & faired version, & was indeed a detuned Honda Hornet.

Then of course there was the full fat Honda CB600F Hornet.

Thanks, have double checked & nope the original email and documents they sent say I insured the Honda CB600 F.

just cancel it and choose another company,or threaten too, theyll soon change there mind

I'll try that one, although from the sounds of it they'll just accept my cancellation and probably give me some sort of pathetic refund as I'm sure they'll want to take off fees plus the time I've used the insurance, which in their own little world is probably more than 50% of what I paid for the policy

Actually ive had a bit of a read up & 98 - 2006 it used a 97bhp motor, & 2007 - current, it uses a detuned CBR motor that makes 100bhp, if memory serves your is a 06, so it's still on the 97bhp motor.

BTW, it's not ebike is it?.

Nope it's not ebike.

It's a 2004 model (2005 reg) Hornet, so the older non CBR engine. So yep, still on the 97bhp.

In that case they've mistakenly quoted you for a CBF600 instead of a CB600F.

I wish it was that simple. The original insurance confirmation document says the insured bike is a CB600 F. Since seeing the pictures they are claiming that the CB600 F and the Honda Hornet are two different bikes hence the extra cost :S

Thanks for the responses so far all, I just wanted to make 100% that I'm right before arguing any further with them :p

Contacted them again today. They still wouldn't listen, even after I forwarded an email from Honda confirming that the CB600 F and the Hornet are the same thing.

I then spoke to another lady. She still insisted the CB600 F and the Hornet are different bikes (about 12 times). Finally she went off and spoke to her supervisor, a few minutes on hold and she comes back and says they will cover the additional premium as a "goodwill gesture". She then went on to say how I'm still wrong lol

We write with reference to our telephone conversation of today and can confirm
that the additional premium previously advised of £53.04, is no longer payable.

We hope this is clear and should you require any further assistance please do not
hesitate to contact the office.

Thanks for all the replies/help all :)

Don't forget, we're all wrong and they only wrote off the premium because they're so super awesome
