Sorry to mess everyone around as I have asked loads of questions in the past but regardless of money and just sole performance and high frames at 1920x1200 what card should I go with a r290x or a 780ti, I did how ever also look at the power colour r290 pcs. Based on number and facts and not money which is best for my resolution with my I7 3930k at 4.4 and 16 gig of 2133 RAM

Performance wise they're pretty similar.

What games do you play?

Probably a case of which features you would prefer...

AMD > Mantle > TrueAudio > More Vram > Cheaper
Nvidia > Physx > Gsync > ShadowPlay

Coupled with how much you want to spend.
 
I have owned both, 780ti is the best plug and play option, generally much more overclocking headroom, AMD's 290 series are powerful but need to much fiddling with imho. The 780ti is the better card hands down but you'll pay a premium over the 290x for it.
 
780ti is the most powerfull in most instances, but the % difference isn't much in games between that and the 290x. Just had a look at a review for the msi geforce gaming edition 780ti and its only 7% faster than the 290x, but your talking about 5fps om the maximum and 1 fps at best on minimums.

couldn't find a 1980x1200 review in the short amount of time i bothered to look on google ;)
 
personally i'd buy a reference card and clock the bawls out of it , but if you just want performance out of the box the Gigabyte windforce 3x is the best value Ti card out there at the moment.
 
Are you sure this is worth £120 more than this? Bearing in mind the Sapphire 290X is 5% faster than your typical 290X, has an excellent cooler and overclocks very well. Food for thought OP. On that note, ill bow out. :p

I'm with matt on this. No way, with mantle round the corner (I'm an optimist) is the £120 worth it. And you can still clock the balls off the sapphire :D

hi just a quick ? as you are the amd guru
I am on the lookout for a new card and been adviced to get the 290,
and i thank all for the help,but seeing that the saphire 290x has come down in price. Is it worth it over the 290.

I think the 290 represents the best value for money out there, followed by a 780. This represents the best bang for buck 290 AIB card out there. This is probably my pick of the 290 AIB cards out there. Sadly its not in stock at ocuk atm, but ask in CS when more is due in. The Sapphire Tri X cards tend to sell out pretty quickly. 290X is around 5-7.5% faster than a 290. I'd only recommend one over the 290 if you want that extra performance.
