Hi all,

I am getting married next year in May, we have the place booked, music etc all sorted just the fine details to figure out.

However, we are stuck for honeymoon ideas.

There are the usual places, hot beaches etc. The other half wants to go for 2 weeks and we would both prefer USA or Canada, or both. For me, 2 weeks stuck on a beach somewhere would end with me chewing through my wrists just to end the bordem. :D

More than 2 hours sitting on a beach feeling myself cook is as close to hell as you could get!

A few ideas I have had that she likes:

Driving holiday - drive across canada/USA for a few weeks stopping in different locations.

Maybe something like a ranch break, like the one here. Not sure a working holiday would be appreciated by the other half even if the horse riding a scenery would be.

So, any suggestions?

Preferably, great views, quite yet with stuff to keep you busy as well.

Before anyone starts, we will have been together 12 years BEFORE we get married (and we are only 26), the whole "honeymoon = sex and lounging about" is great, but there is more to us than just that :D

Arizona, I will have a google :D

Its the exact sort of place we are looking for, lots of open land to wander about in.

I can't say my knowledge of the states and canada is great, hence the reason for posting here :D

I know you've said you would prefer the USA, by why not broaden your horizons?

We went to Langkawi, just off Malaysia for our honeymoon. Stayed at the Tanjung Rhu resort. http://www.tanjungrhu.com.my/

Like you we had been together for many years before we got married, and Langkawi complemented that. There are beautiful beaches, but loads else to do also. Watersports, private island hops, snorkelling, walks, spa treatments etc etc etc..

Mal :)

We're doing a mini trip to Las Vegas, San Francisco and LA-ish for our wedding/honeymoon.

5 nights at the first 2 places then 6 in a hotel on the beach somewhere so we get a mix of things.

How about a package deal that throws in some day trips?

There are some amazing ones to China and New Zealand. They take you to all of the best sights and you get 'free days' where you can do as you please. Most you can usually extend and have a few days at the end on a beach for example.

How about a safari :D !!

thanks for those that had decent suggestions, as for those that question it :p

Its not just a honeymoon, it could be our last decent holiday for a few years, we have a mortgage, a £20K wedding to pay for and shortly after she wants to start trying for kids which as some of you know take up a lot of time and money and I will also be the only proper wage earner for a while. We would like to make it something to remember, lounging around a hotel/beach having lots of sex would be no different than staying at home really. :)

Even after 10 years we have a great, loving and romantic relationship but want to do something interesting for our honeymoon that we will really remember for the rest of our lives.

you're spooning 20k on a wedding when you have a mortgage and want kids? are you on crack?

£20K is the maximum limit, £16K the lower.

Its £5K for the venue plus all the rooms + bedrooms so we can make some money back from them.

Add another £2-£4k for clothes, then flowers, Entertainment, photos + album etc etc, it soon adds up. It also includes £3-5K on the honeymoon.

She's worth it!

Mrs Snail and I crossed the Rockies by train on honneymoon. It was fab and Vancover is a fabulous place at the other end. I personally prefer Canada to the US, I find it less threatening.

My wife is from Arizona and it's a fantastic place, there are some lovely hotels in Phoenix and plenty to do.

Trip to the grand canyon, or spend a weekend in les vegas (only an hour flight).

I went to vegas for my honeymoon after getting married in phoenix and it was perfect, went to a couple of good shows, played the slots :D got a hotel room with a jacuzzi ;)
