Thought I'd call on the huge resource of knowledge that is the OcUK forum for this... whilst I also look online :D

Getting married in November, and myself and wife-to-be wanted to do a honeymoon fund rather than a traditional gift list, so that guests can contribute towards our honeymoon...

I'm just starting to research it online now, but would appreciate any feedback from people who may have done this, any suggested agents to use/avoid and general tips/info really :)

Many thanks.

We are doing the same and using a wishing well at the reception for people to place cards in.

We added a brief insert into each invite with a bit of reason behind. Was written as a brief poem and had a bit of humour in it.

If you google for "Wishing Well Poem" you will find a lot of examples.

Doing the same thing, also speak to the travel agent, usually have a service where the guests can phone up and send in donations.

What do you mean by 'suggested agents'?

Travel agents I guess, unless there are good companies that specifically offer honeymoons and the fund I mention.

We have set one of these up already as we get married at the end of the month.

A lot of the ones we looked at would only give you "vouchers" for more holidays as payout that were only redeemable with themselves.

We plumped for using Kuoni not only did they build a an outstanding custom made package, their customer service (at the Meadowhall shop) has been outstanding.

Their gift list allows people to donate online, over the phone or via any Kuoni branch, this money can be used to pay off the balance of a holiday or can be "cashed out" as a cheque. This is what we shall be doing as we have already paid off our balance and the "fund" will be used to clear our credit card bills (from holiday spends) when we return.

The only restriction is that if the amount in your fund exceeds the cost of your holiday you can only get the difference back in vouchers.

You can find more info about it by clicking here.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Ah, I see. So the gifts will be money (cash, cheque, transfer etc) and then you're looking for a travel agent separate to that? I thought you meant an agent could do both, hence my concern.

Sorry, I have no advice but I hope you have an amazing day and then an amazing holiday :)
