As with previous games, I am sure there will be several honours bestowed on our athletes after the games. Who do you think will get an honour?

For me, I am sure the following people will get a Knighthood

  • Ben Ainslie
  • Mo Farah (if he wins 5000k)
  • Dave Brailsford (British Cycling Chief)
  • Bradley Wiggins

Who else do you think should be on the list

btw.. I understand that a lot of people think the "Normal" people should get honours for doing "extraordinarily" things, not their "Job", but athletes have, and will continue to get awarded these honours, and will be after these games too!

What about Pendleton??...no love for her??.

Pretty much agree with the ones stated above although lets be honest, these honours are given out willy nilly nowadays:p.

She is already an MBE! Quite possible that this will get an upgrade to Damehood!

I hope she does actually! He relegations during this Olympics have been quite unfair tbh. Certainly the last one

LOL yes thanks for pointing that out captain obvious;):p.

But i was under the impression that this is a thread for honours awarded after the Olympics and not the other way round. Unless im completely wrong and read the title and thread incorrectly.

And as the above poster said, hes already got an MBE.

Yeah, that was the point of the thread. Chris is only a pundit during these games, but he has done a lot for cycling over the years with the development of bikes. Not sure he's done enough for a knighthood quite yet however!

Brailsford is responsible for getting the athletes to perform at their best. (He is "performance director")
Boardman is reponsible for getting their euiptment to perform the best. (He is "R+D manager")

Each is equally responsible for the Team GB success IMO.

Fair point! Guess we'll see what happens!
