Hey guys,

I got the BenQ XL2410T (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-043-BQ) earlier in the month and it's been excellent so far but I have a question for that I need some help with...my flat mate is moving out soon and is going to be taking our 40" TV downstairs with him so I am looking for an alternative to plug my consoles into. I am aware the XL2410T has a HDMI slot at the back and it certainly would be convenient if I didn't have to spill cash into a brand new telly!

Could I simply lead a HDMI cable from console to the back of the monitor and everything will just, err, work? Or does it require more effort than that? Could someone explain what I would have to get/do? Would this provide me with 1080 HD because of the native resolution of the monitor and would I still benefit from the 120hz refresh rate? Also, is there anything I would need to get sound working separately?

Help greatly appreciated!

Yes, just connect HDMI from the console to the monitor. If you have set the consoles to output 1080p, then that's what you will get on the monitor. Not sure about the refresh rate, you might need HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 lead, to be able to make use of it. Consoles will probably have to be up to date firmware as well.

Just plug your HDMI lead into your console and monitor, and it should work straight away.

If any reason it doesn't work straight away, it would be because the xbox is outputting at a resolution the monitor can't handle, in which case you will have to change on your original display beforehand. But this should not be a problem with your monitor.

you have 3 inputs with this monitor, I would prefer to keep my pc on digital so get a VGA adaptor for one of your consoles, I got a used one for the xbox a few years back and it set me back about £3-5 from Computer Exchange (CEX). This way you wont have to keep messing with the monitor and swapping the cables every time as you would have 1 input per device and just have to select the source. of course if you do not care about the monitor connection, a dvi-hdmi connector would work, but you would have to route sound a different way, say via the optical on the ps3.

Ok, so the video connection works fine when linking up the HDMI cable.

The problem now is that my monitor has no built in speakers, hence I have no sound. Is there any way I can get sound to output from my computers speakers?
