Hooking Sky Box to Monitor?

I am thinking of getting a new monitor probably a Iiyama or Viewsonic 24" one for desktop in bedroom. I'd also like to hook up my blu ray player and extra sky plus box to it though.

I know my blu ray has hdmi so that's not a problem. But my Sky Plus box only has scart, rf and s-video output. Is there any way I would still be able to connect that up if the new monitor I'm thinking of getting only has two hdmi sockets and a RGB? 15-pin mini D-sub (VGA)?

Would there be some sort of adapter I could get to change scart, rf or s-video over to hdmi or vga?

Thanks,
John

A good option is to get a monitor which has a Composite video input (and get a cheap scart to composite adapter). This just leaves the issue of finding a monitor that has a composite input. You could go for something like a second-hand Dell 2408WFP or 2407WFP (not the HC version) as these both have a composite video input and are both nice monitors (although their 16:10 aspect ratio isn't ideal for widescreen video watching).

The simplest option would probably be to buy a ~24in 1080p TV. It won't be nearly as cheap as the 24in monitors, but it will allow the easy connection of a scart sky box.

As for Scart to VGA - I think it is possible, but it's messy.

Alternatively, sky are offering a free Sky HD + boxe (which have a HDMI output) and free standard installation to existing customers so long as they take out their HD package (£10.25 extra per month).

Won't the sky box output at 50Hz? Most monitors do not support 50Hz vertical refresh rates and trying to get it to work would be getting into a world of pain.

What about one of these: http://bit.ly/qfnj72 Would something like that help?

I have no intention of getting Sky HD as I will be tied into a 12 month contract paying twice as much. I may consider it when its free and they have the next gimmick like Sky 3D.
