Hooking up PSU and CPU/Cooling

Okay so I've got a Corsair HX1000w PSU. And a 1100T CPU. I also have sitting on top of that processor a V10 cooler master.

Now here's my question. In the Corsair bag of cables there is one that is marked "EPS12V Cable for CPU Only".


Now by CPU does it mean the fan I've got sat on top of CPU? And if so I thought you could hook that fan up to anything. Do I need to be hooking my V10 up with that cable?

The V10's not very good tbh, and worse on the Phenom II's as the TEC won't kick in.
That Corsair cable is the 8 pin which goes into the motherboard.

I'm not going to OC that much, I'd like to up the processor a bit but as long as the V10 will shower my CPU with air then i'll be happy
