I know its "too early to say" on things, but
I am hopeing to change the following :

Motherboard
CPU
RAM

Will my PSU be ok for a dual or quad core setup ? either intel or AMD?

thanks

PSU should be fine as long as it achualy outputs near the stated wattage. As some of the cheap ones are way beleow what they claim.

The new quads and duals are coming out in november so cant say about them. Go intel almost certainly though unless amd manage to bring out a winner but its looking unliekyl now. The motherboaerds probably get a P35 board like the ones that are there now but will be cheaper i gues.

Depends on budget and what comes out in tjhe first quarter of next year.

budget, probabally gonna try and get whats avalible now, 2nd hand, so probab thinking about £200 if my PSU can cope

200 quid cuts it quite fine. But in january the current c2d and c2q are getting replaced with new moddles with will be a bit faster and overclock a lot more. But the current ones will still be good but drop in price loads. Could get a cheap q6600 for probably under 100 quid after.

i had a look today to see whats about, and I noticed that Intel C2D CPUs seem to be ALL socket LGA775 i guess i best make sure the motherboard has that (if i bought now)

Also noticed some motherboards have DDR 3 is there CPUs that run on DDR3's full potential yet?

DDR3 is overpriced & not currently worth it, I doubt it will be til about 2009.
