Hoping for a performance increase...

Currently on this rig:

Asus P5Q Pro Turbo Intel P45 (Socket 775) DDR2 Mobo
E6850 3.0Ghz C2D
4GB DDR2 800Mhz OCZ RAM

upgrading to:

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3
i7 920 (hopefulyl up to 4Ghz)
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Low Latency Tri-Channel

reckon i should get a bit more *unf* out of it? mainly encoding and editing video so hoping for some quicker times!

Look for the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard instead. It's a revised version of the Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R with added USB3.0 and 6Gb/s SATA, as well as a bit faster too.

I've also seen this board Asus P6X58D-E recommended on here for the i7. Possibly a better layout than the Gigabyte option?
