right i have 3 computers all older generations.
Dell Optiplex GX620 Sff - socket 775 - 3.5gb(3x1gb + 512mb)
custom gaming - socket 775 - 3gb(2x1gb 2x512mb)
custom cube - am3 - 2.5gb(2x1gb + 512mb)
the dell had 2gb originally via 2 sticks, but then spread it out via 4 512mbs as i was using the other ram in a selling computer.... the custom gaming came with 4x1gb and the cube came with 2x1gb...
they all support 4gb max and i figured as i havent sold the custom yet i would spread the ram round to better my keepers(dell being my main)..
anyways the custom accepts all 4 sticks(well i havent tested it yet but when it had original ram it worked) and i havent got round to putting the cube back on as im putting my focus into my dell, but now this is where my problem is..
the dell runs fine with 2x1gb and 4x512mb and works with 3x1gb, but for some reason thats really bugging me and cant find the answers is the dell wont accept 4x1gb even though the ram sticks work, but it will take 3.5gb which is what im currently using
, going from the order the 512mb stick in is slot one which seems to be the issue, all ram is pretty much in pairs, some i brought 2nd hand from shop so cant always pair that accurately, but never had issues like this on other computers unless the ram was dodgy..
mean 3.5 is better than 2 especially as im running windows 7 pro 64bit, but how can i max it if it wont accept it lol, does anyone have any ideas at all???
