Horizontal black and white flickering lines

The screen on my Acer 7750G laptop has horizontal black and white flickering lines. However, they only start after a driver has been installed. When I uninstall the drivers, they stop. The GPU is a AMD 6650M, I've tried loads of different drivers and each one I uninstall with DDU.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a faulty GPU. A problem with the 3d elements.

Why would it only happen after the drivers are installed though?

Because Aero effects are not loaded unless you have a capable GPU and driver. If you are running a standard VGA adapter driver, it will only display 2d/ non glass elements.

My best solution:

Use cru.exe and add 1600x900@85Hz.
