Hello, I have recently brought a ASUS GTX 670. I have Horizontal tv like lines running across the screen which is most apparent with darker backgrounds.
The Monitor which i use is VGA only and running through a VGA/DVI converter, i also tried another VGA only monitor which had the same issues... So i thought it was the VGA Converter, but then i tried my HDTV via VGA and no lines appeared so i asume its not the Graphics card.

Could anyone please help me i have no idea this is my first build ever :D

The power supply i have is Antec TruePower 650W Which from what i understand shouldnt be underpowering my build as of course i have googled the hell out of this problem without a solution PSU was questioned a lot. Confused someone please help :)

HDD: 250 GB *Not sure what the make is just old*
PSU: Antec TruePower 650W

I get the same thing on my LG screen, but it only seems to happen when playing games and is only visible on dark backgrounds, e.g. BF3 loading screen.

Oh, and this has happened on all of my previous graphics cards as well.

Yeah, i have a LG Flatron W2246 didnt have the problem on 550TI the lines are less noticeable on lower graphics settings. I have ordered a VGA/DVI cable to see how that works out just to see if it is a dodgy converter...

*Edit* Tested lower graphics on another game and the lines got worse...

I had a similar problem. Had my monitor connected to my gpu via vga and a dvi to vga converter. When I got my new monitor I went for dvi between them, problem solved.

It is weird that vga to the hdtv doesn't produce the problem though, maybe tv's just don't get the interference?

Ah, so would you think a VGA - DVI "Cable" won't help? rather than a converter
I am not sure if it will have less interference.

Spending a fortuned on GTX670 only to use it via VGA is a bit odd.

You could spend a while troubleshooting the cause. RF interference, unshielded cable, noisy power supply, faulty analogue chip or whatever.

It would be better to simply use a screen with a digital in connection (DVI/HDMI/DP). VGA is old and terrible. Move on and you will get a better picture to boot.

Haha, yeah just waiting for a couple of paydays for the money, brought the system part by part upgrading from a 5 year old pc, only have the 1 HDD left from it :D guess it's just a wait to get a new monitor, i just hate problems lol always try to find a solution "Now" rather than later.

Also i decided to get the gpu first because better frame rates are better than screen quality :)

I had this same problem recently, for me it was caused by the VGA (which is analog) cable picking up interference. I swapped it for a DVI (which is digital) cable and all was well. :)
