My rig:

9900k @ 5.0Ghz all cores (very stable, set over a year ago)
32GB Corsair Vengeance (set to XMP II)
Asus 3090 Strix OC
Asus Z390-E
Asus Thor 1200w
1TB M.2 Samsung Evo 970
2TB Samsung Evo 870

I've recently reformatted, but in most games, when loading assets, my PC stutters like mad until all assets are loaded. I simply can't find what's causing this, happened before the format as well.

I'm thinking it might be the motherboard, my memory is fine after tests, same for CPU and GPU.

Turns out, on Asus motherboards... A2 and B2 are primary DIMM slots... I've had this issue for ages, let my embarrassment be a lesson for those in the future.

As an aside high DPC latency, either directly or indirectly affecting the storage driver(s), can also cause stutters when streaming assets.

Seems to be the same for the MSI X570 Tomahawk, where DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 are the first slots to use. Luckily I was doing my build by the book as it had been a while.

Aye, I'm always used to A1 and B1 slots... But since I swapped over last night, the stuttering has entirely stopped for me. All this time of just living with it, if only I had swallowed my pride and checked the manual :D
