Ok so when it comes to jumpy games like Alien Isolation, Dead Space etc... I'll be honest I'm a total pussy, I try and sit through 20 minutes and the very last thing that makes me jump and I'm "Yeah right that's it, ALT+F4" :D

So I'm after a bit of horror game training because I really do want to play through these awesome games.

What would be the best way for me to jump in so to speak and get a set of gaming balls ? :p

Play Viva Piñata Party Animals instead. :p

Do the jump-scares stop you from enjoying the game? If so, why play the game at all?

If you are determined, it helps to start by not playing it alone, at night, in the dark. ;)

Maybe start with something older but still a little testing like Doom 3 with a mod?

F.E.A.R. is another one worth trying out.

Work your way up from titles like those.

Hey vViva Piñata is a good game..... :p

They don't stop me from enjoying it but they really get my heart pumping and make me jumpy which I'm not too fond of but I love the material they're based around which I find very odd considering I can sit through any horror film and not bat an eye lid

I have all the FEAR games on steam, Might give them a try :)

The FEAR games are pretty good at easing you in as it is more action than horror so you get a rest between the tense/jump scare moments.

It depends what scares you the most, if its atmosphere, tension or jump scares. Maybe the Amnesia games? They are pretty scary but on the lower side when it comes to jump scares but terrify from a tension standpoint. Or the Slenderman game if you want to slowly ramp up your tolerance for very uncomfortable environments.

Or just go full on pants on head retarded and play the P.T demo and everything else will have the same fear factor of Barbie's magically adventure after that!

Call of Cthulha Dark Corners of the Earth. Graphics might be lacking but story creates very nice atmosphere. Wish theyd do a HD remake or another horror game based on this mythos...

Im the same, horror games are just a no go for me.

There is just something I can't convince myself to actively play a game knowing you are about to **** yourself.

Played FEAR for a bit, remember turning round to go down some ladders and seeing the girl then crapping myself. Got to the bottom of the ladders, turned round and saw her again then crapped myself once more. Never played it again :p

thats was quite a moment i remember that to , also i don't know why but when i was younger i could play resident evil, silent hill without an issue and now kinda scared of scary games weird .

I played Alan wake and finished its a semi scary game but no real jump scares from what i remember be a good place to start.

But i hate games with jump scares

I remember the first half life game been bad for that them head crabs in the vents made me jump every time !

Dont play condemned criminal origins scary ass game.

Okay here is my tip.

Play something like Dead Space
- Set the game to easy
- relax in the thought that even if you get jumped you'll stilll have plenty of health to punch them in the face
- Enjoy the story

I couldn't play amnesia for ages until I took off my headphones and went to speakers with the sound a bit lower. Playing it in a room with other people helps too!
