Hi people having a bit of a mare this morning.

My overclocked E6600 (3.2. 400x8) for some reason decided to start up at 2.133 (266.67x8) for some bizzare reason.

Having a look in the BIOS everything seemed normal, came back out still the same. Tried changing the clock 410 etc, nothing changes.

So turned the host clock control off and the computer reads 266x8 and gives the 2.13, a underclock.

Any ideas why its disabling itself even though it reckons its on, and how on ewarth do i fix it?

Thanks.

It could just be age degrading components so that what was once a stable overclock is no longer stable. I know I used to have a motherboard that would automatically reset my host clock control if I tried a speed which was too high.

Would that underclock though? Not allow it to ever go to reset stock settings.

Have even taken the battery out of the mobo and no joy, everything resets, but the clock comes in at 100 x8 but thr host is disabled and it restarts at 233 x8 everytime.

It just sounds odd.

I'm in shock.

Just tried another computer (a spare built with spare parts to give to someone) and unplugged all my leads at the back, DVI, sound, usbs and of course power to test the other base unit. Test wnet fine, put all these parts back in to my computer, and yep, back to 3.2 just like that.

Amazed.

Bewildered.

Amused? Not sure.
