Bit of an odd one, does anybody know if the is anywhere out there that lets you rent a Nameserver? I.E pay money for it then upload a bunch of DNS records and change the DNS to point to it?

Basically my main NS for domain1.net needs to be temporerily taken offline, however the whois records list a couple of other NS but none of them exist any more, just the one that's being taken down, however one of the decommissioned ones listed is servername.domain2.com, and I still own domain2.com so can create a record for servername.domain2.com and point it at the IP of any NS so I would like to rent one to point it at and hold the records for domain1.net while it's main NS is offline, hope that all makes sense.

Cloud flare will do exactly this.

You point the domain at Cloud flares dns servers. You can then manage your A/CNAME/MX records through their website

So I could point servername.domain2.com at cloudflares DNS servers than add records for domain1.net? Looking at their site they seem to be about web sites but ill read more info on them, thanks dude.

Cloudflare idea seems to be sorted now, I have copied all the records for domain1.net to cloudflare and have changed servername.domain2.com from an A record to a CNAME pointed at one of cloudflares name servers.

Highly recommend DNS Made Easy as a hosted DNS provider. Have been using them for over a decade.
