Hi

Apologies if this question is in the wrong place, but this seemed to be the best bet.

I am considering renting a hosted virtual server, however, would I be able to connect to that virtual server via remote desktop etc, and see the windows desktop as if it were a normal system? Or is that not how virtual servers work?

Thanks

Phil

You should not notice any difference between connecting to a Virtual server compared to connecting to a physical server.

Hi, Thanks for replying. I should have worded my question a bit better. What I meant was, if I pay for a hosted virtual server, can I connect to the virtual server using remote desktop? Or will I have to log into a website and control the server via some kind of management console?

Thanks

You can do either as a rule, but yes, if you run windows you'll still be able to remote desktop to it.

Should be RDP (that's how we connect to any of our hosted servers), but you'd have to confirm it with the hosting company.
