Hosting GMod Server

Trying to host a Garry's Mod Server but it simply doesn't work. Setting up a network game and allowing 4 friends to join and even using SV_LAN 0 does nothing.

How on gods green earth do you get this ****** game to host?

Steam guides using SteamCMD are useless, the results are the same - yes, ports are forwarded.

Have you opened the ports on your firewall? (Windows too?)

I know you said Ports are forwarded, but a lot of people overlook the Windows firewall and only do the router.

ahh, I'd forgotten about heartbeat - will give that a try (once I've re-installed Windows
