This is going to be quite long.....
I want to build a Wordpress website for my brother's car dealership. I chose wordpress as it is supposedly easy to use for novice users and it has an abundance of automobile themes that I can buy.
With regards to hosting and domains, bearing in mind I have no experience in the field I went with GoDaddy as that is the only company I have heard of.
I purchased a domain and a Wordpress Starter package, I have 5 days cooling of period to which I can get a refund before then. The only reason I mention this is because I discovered that it comes with 0 email addresses which is disappointing especially when the customer adviser assumed it came with some with a 100Mb limit at time of purchase.

I paid £115.01 for 2 years hosting which came with 1 free Domain name. I purchased the additional protection so that personal details remain anonymous on WhoIs.is
I enquired about the price for emails and was told 5 email addresses with 2Gb total for two years is £76.30. (I have not purchased this as mentioned previously the customer advisor and I at time of purchase assumed this would be free)
Questions
1) What is the difference between a normal Linux hosting service (http://uk.godaddy.com/hosting/web-hosting-new.aspx) and a wordpress one? (http://uk.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting.aspx?ci=86702)
2) Is it beneficial to have a wordpress hosting service? Looking at the GoDaddy features it gives:

-100 GB storage Store approximately 22,000 images or 500 standard videos
