Hot Air Ballooning

Evening all,

I want to take my girlfriend hot air ballooning as a surprise, so has anyone got any recommendations? I live near Heathrow but am willing to travel about an hour and a half out. The best place, I think, would be somewhere in Wiltshire.

I'd love your recommendations though. Cheap is also good.

We went hot air ballooning from Guildford with Virgin hot air balloons. Was a great trip; well organised, safe, and a great pilot. Would definitely go again.

We are in theory going nearer the end of the month with virgin. So far it seems well organised. Just hope the weather holds out. Last one was cancelled.

I won a balloon trip in the 90s with my old job, done it at Pooley Bridge in the lake district, great views, i had a couple of pints before we took off and i was busting for the toilet when i was in the sky, was in agony for about an hour, i would have lobbed it over the side but their were ladies in the basket with me

Once you land you have to wrap the balloon up and put it in a massive bag

Thanks for the information guys, I can't believe how expensive the trips are!! Unless you want to go at 6am on a weekday...obviously not ideal!

All this hot air about ballooning, I personally think it's appeal's grossly over inflated.

I did one from Hyde Park. Really great seeing the capital and then drifting out over the suburbs.

We've booked for mid April FF bought me a ride as a present this is our second attempt as the first one was cancelled due to the weather.

We have booked through Virgin and are flying from Mote Park in Maidstone.

To be fair, the last ballooning accident of that magnitude was the Hindenburg although there is actually a higher rate of balloon accidents per hour flying than normal aircraft, apparently
