Hi Guys

I need to buy myself a hot air gun to help remove some old putty/adhesive as per my other thread.

What kind of power of hot air gun is useful for general DIY purposes?

Does anyone have any product recommendations?

Thanks

have you tried to use google ?

first a workdench and now a hot air gun ?

just go down to B & Q or any hardware shop and you can get them all from there.

Will one of these do the trick?

Yes I have Googled it too, but I also like to have advice from experienced DIYers so I know exactly what to look for.

Thanks

It's a hot air gun, not a pullover compound mitre saw. Will you be asking us which decorators wipes to buy next?

Go to B&Q, look and read the product cards, rule out the ones you can't afford and pick a brand you've heard of within your budget.

This is one tool I don't recommend spending loads of money on. Drills, jigsaws, angle grinders etc I always say buy the best you can get and only Makita, DeWalt or Bosch, but hot air guns get ruined very quickly so get a cheap one. Some come with a selection of nozzles to make your job easier - worth bearing in mind. I think they are about 1600W and up. It's just a slow speed hair drier at the end of the day.

Get the Bosch one, they are great, these are the best ones we bought, all the others failed after a time. Bosch ones are still going strong after 4 years of constant use.
They had a hard life, in constant use, so for general DIY it should last as long as you.
