I can't believe all the raves this film got. I must have chuckled about twice through the whole movie. This is currently in the IMDB top 250 !!!! HOW ??

Storyline is pap as well. I can't be the only one.

I really liked it. It wasn't better than Shaun of the dead as a film, but the editing, story arc and writing were very good.

Gotta say i agree with you 100%, not that funny and not a scratch on Shaun.

I loved the film, thought it was better than Shaun.

My favourite colour however is blue, I've noticed that some people favour other colours, it's almost as if human beings had varying tastes

You're obviously not from the westcountry then :p

Exactly. :p

Having lived in Somerset my whole life, I found it hilarious. When I saw it at the cinema I was in a bit of a bad mood, so didn't laugh (except at the Point Break reference). But watching it again, I've found it so so funny.

It was great lots of hidden humour very witty in places.

Love the bit with the woman repeating "God rest them" in the florist shop. :D

Storyline was fine I was actually very shocked!

Film also did very well in the US which is nice to see.

Not as good as Shaun Of The Dead for the simple reason that a cop film is supposed to be a real life type thing. With a zombie film, you accept an entirely unreal situation (Oh, a zombie plague, fair enough) within minutes of the film starting and thereafter anything is plausible.

With a cop film, you expect a real story, with the only really stretching bit being the gun fights and explosions. As such, when the story goes pear shaped (about two thirds into Hot Fuzz) it's much more jarring.

It still had some very funny moments though.

I think you have to 'get' Simon Pegg if you see what i mean. Watch a few episodes of Spaced and you'll love the guy for ever

too true, however my other friend disagrees totally and hate spaced, but will rofl at SotD and Hot Fuz

i will admit its the sort of humor that will keep a smile on my face rather than actually make me lol but i think i prefer that!

Simon Pegg's mannerisms come straight from Steve Coogan and Alan Partridge. Not that that's a bad thing, but every time I see him on Spaced or in SOTD, he acts how I would expect Alan Partridge/Steve Coogan to act.

It would be nice to see Steve Coogan go down the same route, and make his own films.

Exactly what I was going to say.

It's all a matter of taste. To some Simon Pegg and co are extremly funny, in which case the chances of liking the film are high. Personally I just don't find them especially funny, so I'm in no rush to catch anything they bring out.

I loved both Shaun of the Dead and Spaced, and I enjoyed Hot Fuzz. I agree it's overrated though - no way should it be in the IMDB top 250 if you ask me. Good film, hilarious in parts but a bit overlong and not consistently funny.
