is it safe to use a hot glue gun inside a pc case, as in on a motherboard???

are all hot glue guns the same sort of stuff?

cheers - i need to hold some things in place.

I've used a hot glue gun on PCBs before. I think the biggest risk would probably be melting something with the heat as the glue its self is unlikely to be conductive.

ok, cheers

basically i have some problems with a hard drive (see the hard drive forum) and i get the feeling it may have been caused by a loose sata connector - they have always been loose, pretty crappy design really.
Once i get my HD problems sorted i was thinking of using a bit of hotglue to keep the cables connected more firmly to the MB.

sound sensible?

My very first PC had the PCI cards glued in with a hot glue gun  .

Haha, one of our old servers at work built by an outside company had everything glued together inside it aswell. Right down to the hard drive screws, expansion cards, HSF, RAM :D Think it was their idea of a warranty so they could prove it if we fiddled with it :D

Bad thing for them was though that when we took the cards out, the glue came out in one piece so when it was replaced, it didn't look like the glue had moved :p

are yoru hardrives western digital ones ??? they are often loose but they do a secure conenct cable you can use has alarge plastic peice that cothers most of the back of *** hardrive to hold on securely. youjust have to use the 4pin molex as the power socket instead of sata power.

nah i have seagates - and its the connection at the MB that is the loose one.
My problems may not be related to loose cables at all but this is the second hard drive fail in a year so just thought i'd protect myself - anyway, it sounds like it should be ok going by what people are saying above.
