I have a PC that i just tried orthos CPU test on and the Core 1 went to 81c and core 2 went to 94!

If I leave it testing my computer I take it that it will lock up or restart before my pc sets on fire? Testing using core temp 0.99.1 and Orthos 0.41

A little warm, what cpu and cooler have you got, are you overclocked.

I would suspect the cpu will throttle and if your motherboard has a high temp alarm should auto shutdown.

Have you just overclocked straight to 2.8Ghz or have you been testing and building up to 2,8?

reseated and scrubbed off old AS5 and put new stuff on. Seems to be about 10c cooler than before.

(maybe i should run at 3ghz instead of 2.8 now!)

i gave my heatsink and cpu a good clean, new paste, took a dyson hose attachment to the heasink to suck all the dust clumps out and cotton buds down the nooks and crannies, got a drop of about 25 degrees in temp. cant remember what paste though, wasnt AS5 but its done the trick till i can afford to put my foot through my pc for a laugh :P
