Hot or not?

For the nostalgia: Track cutting AthlonXP

Fairly sure it was an XP2000+ or close. These later CPU you had to use conductive paint, pencil wasn't conductive enough.

I mixed up the names it was the 1st Athlon, not XP, which I used a pencil to unlock the multiplier... I remember doing this because I had one that was 900mhz running at 1Ghz.. it was the my first Ghz cpu.
And I had an Asus A7V motherboard that I had to solder a resistor to increase the Vcore voltage to get it stable.

Forgot to plug CPU 8 pin ATX 12V cable into the PSU once, took me a while to realise as it was plugged into the motherboard. (first attempt at cable management)

A couple of others.

I forgot to plug cable into a GPU, but that was easily seen and fixed.

Forgot to remove the protective sticker from my first Liquid Freezer AIO. Did not find this out until i swapped it out to try a air cooler as the temps was fine.

Putting together a full new rig with high end (at the time) motherboard and letting a screwdriver slip slightly.

New motherboard required.

i literally just did hte cable touching a fan blade thing again literal hours after joking about how i dod it constantly on another thread on this very forum lol

I invariably forget to turn the psu affixed power switch on after doing any internal fiddling, then have a minor panic when the PC won't turn on from the case button.

Never managed to kill anything through careless screwdriver slippage but that is becoming more frequent, so place your bets.

Don't think I've ever managed to break anything, but when I built my first PC I forgot to plug the CPU power in. Was very sad when I turned it on and nothing happened. Took me ages to figure it out.

More times than I can remember in 25 years of building my own rigs and for Family. Last one was killing a Seasonic PSU (it was 15 years old anyway) and a DVD drive, melted a Sata power connector by not plugging it in correctly.
