Hot Spot didn't work

I woke up this morning to find my broadband down so I thought no problem I'll just connect my Mac to my iPhone hotspot. It connected OK but still didn't give me internet access even though my phone showed 4G. I'm not sure why it didn't work though. I have it set so other people can join using a password.

Am I doing something wrong?

I used to have to have the phone on the hotspot "page" whilst initially connecting sometimes. Hope this helps
