Is there anything i can use in my mum's house to safely remove heat paste etc..

White spirits / bleach / lemon juice?

I don't have my akasa stuff with me to do it..

Pure alcohol is what you want. Something like isopropyl which you can get from a chemist. They might ask you what you want it for, but that's np. Unless you say you're going to drink it.

i wouldn't use lighter fluid, it leaves a film on everything.

i just use a bit of toilet roll and rub it all off, never had any problems with temps or damage.

there's no chemist in my mum's house, so meths was perfect

meths = alcohol + methanol (poisonous alcohol) so it's basically the same thing anyway (for cleaning)

Have you tried doing this recently? I tried to buy some earlier this year, went to a few different chemists who told me its now a controlled substance or something, so they couldnt hand it over to me without a perscription.. You can buy it online tho :/ pretty annoying as i wanted it there and then.

Doesn't surprise me. We'll need government approval to use the crapper soon.
