My housemate has a belkin wireless dongle and it always drops his internet connection. I was using a Netgear WNA3100 dongle and it worked fine, however I have now upgraded to homeplugs

I uninstalled the Belkin and installed the WNA3100 using the same drivers i was using (WNA3100_v1.1.2.16_Setup.exe)

It installs fine and picks up our sky connection at 81% signal in his room. I then try and connect and it asks for the key, input the key and it goes to connect then fails. I know the keys is right because I have recently added it to the sky connection on my phone

Is there some other setting in registry or elsewhere that remmebers any of the old dongle info or conflicts ips or anything?

Both machines are W7 64bit

more info on router setup

could just be interference in his room....can you move the router or his pc slightly to see if it improves things?

Signal is ~80% with my netgear dongle. Problem is that it doenst connect for some reason

With the belkin its low signal and does connect, but keeps dropping connection

still seems like a strength or connection problem. obviously somewhere it's not connecting...like I said try moving them a little...or can you change channel on the router?

Can it connect fine without the key in place? Also, try WEP and see if that works too.. Ive known a few laptops to connect fine with WEP, but for some reason cant connect if there is a WPA key in place.
