would you buy or rent at the moment and what sort of prices would you be willing to pay for a semi-detached house with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom.

how does shared ownership work with overall regards but down to repairs etc? if they own half they should pay half - is that right or am i naive?

Depends how much money you have on whether you buy or rent, Most would say Rent at the mo but Me I would be looking for somebody who is desperate to get out there mortgage & cheeky bid them, Either that or get a wreck & do it up yourself over time, Sweet if you are a batchelor with no nagging women about.

thought about that. i don't mind living in a work in progress lol. i've yet to have a nagging gf/wife so its a possibility.

tempted. the only iffy areas are the tudor road area and i know a few people there so it can't be that bad.

A work in progress means you get a small(er) mortgage and do the place up as and when you can.
The house is done exactly the way you want it to be done......not to mention the self satisfaction

thats what i've been looking at. i've wired plugs/sockets and put in lights etc plus i can do most things electrical (from rewiring a racebike numerous times lol) and the only time i'd stumble is water based stuff. double glazing my brother does so i'd expect nay 'have' family cost. lol.
if i get stuck i know plenty of knowledgable people.

the only thing i'd be lacking (now lol) is any kind of finesse. if something requires tiling/paste/grout my arms are not the best lol.
