I got it on Friday and put it all together in the case with a new PSU and there is no power getting to the board whatsoever?

I have checked the following

1 - Checked the kettle lead with 3 different ones
2 - Disconnected everything inside i.e. HDD DVD etc and still nothing,
3 - removed the new memory so basically it is just the motherboard and PSU and still nothing?

I cant get my head round this guys?

Can anyone lend a hand????

Is probably worth building it out of the case and using a screw driver to short out the power button to boot it up just to see what happens.

Sounds like a borked PSU or Mobo

well id at least leave the cpu and one stick of ram in, otherwise some motherboards just may decide not to boot anyway due to lack of components

Basically just reasserting what others have said:

1: Rebuild outside of the case with only the necessary components.
2: Try it then, if not short out the power button connectors with a screw driver. You might want to do the paper clip trip on the psu to check that works.
3: Make sure all the cables are plugged in etc. Power her on and hope to hell it works, if not its most likely to be a hardware failure.

switch on PSU at the back, should hear a very faint murmur.

Make sure your case reset and power buttons are in the right place on the motherboard.

Check if anything on the motherboard comes alive, either switching on, or standby (PSU on, but computer off).

Check if there is some sort of pre post warning code on the mobo (digits, or LEDs). If you have a chassis speaker, plug it into the motherboard.

Unplug everything except a couple of fans and then get the 24 pin connector and bridge the green wire with any of the black ones. Most people use a paper clip, I've used a staple a few times. Then you can know if the PSU is at least giving power.

thanks for all the replies guys,

rebuilt the whole thing out of the case like you guys suggested and it worked first time. Built it all back it and still didnt work?

So i disconnected all the case cables and it worked, ended up tracing it back to a faulty power switch???

Just after swapping this out with an old case i had lying around and all is working now thanks goodness.

Thanks again guys for all your help.

Faulty power switches are an odd (and often overlooked) problem. You dont actually see it happen that often but it's always worth checking it when you do the 'out of the case build'

i find that some case manufacturers have errors in their manuals and you sometimes need to flip the jumpers around (reverse them in other words) to get them to work. this happened on my lian-li and i had to flip the power and HDD led jumpers to get them to work.

oh, and last night my reset switch button decided to fall out of the case and onto the carpet. weird.
