I'd been hoping to wait for AMD's new Bulldoser CPUs but an upgrade is required.

So What to people think of this build:

MotherBoard Asus P8P67 EVO R3 -£141.20
Processor: i5-2500K -£159.98
RAM:Corsair Vengeance 8GB -£83.99
Graphics:MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III -£254.99
CPU cooler:Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom -£38.99 (+ Additional Fan -£13.99)

Sub-total: £693.14

Now the main question is will my current PSU be good enough for this spec (CoolerMaster 600W Silent Pro) - Not included in the above upgrade there will be 8 3.5" HDD's, a DVD/RW, x7 case fans (140/120mm), PCI SATA-II card. I'm expecting I'll need ~800W

I may change the motherboard to Asrock Fatal1ty/Extreme6 for the extra USB and SATA ports but I'm struggling to see how many 3/4-pin fan connectors the board has.

Also can anyone make any improvements to this spec for around £700 (£800 with PSU - If required)

Can't see why you'd need more than your current PSU. I'm running more off my 650.

If we're talking Silent Pro Gold 600, it does 576W on 12V, which is enough even for a 580.

I would pick up different RAM, the cooler may interfere with them (Corsair Vengeance Low profile if you like that stuff, or just Corsair XMS3).

And the ASrock Extreme 4, which is the same price, but with Z68 Lucid Virtu ect... P8P67 pro I suppose will do the job too.

EDIT : Missed the army of hard drives and other stuff. I would think it will still be enough. I would expect 850W for 570 SLI.

Have you checked that the Vengeance will fit under the AKASA Venom?

If not you could consider the Corsair XMS3 - it's low profile so there wont be any height problems plus it has a prooven track record of running at sub 1.58V (usually 1.5V - like the vegeance) which is bonus when running a clocked SB setup.

You raised a very good point, spoke to a friend, turns out he struggled with a smaller heatsink. XMS3 it is. Thanks

What are peoples opinion of the Asus P8P67 Evo in comparison to the Asrock Extreme6. I'm struggling to decide which is better, to me the Asrock seems like the better choice, but a friend is telling me to avoid them, saying they're low-end compared to the Asus - I always thought they were on-par
