I am looking into buying an SLI motherboard.

What would be the best graphics for £150. Should i get a single card or should i go SLI and buy two 7300gt's?

I could possibly stretch to two BFG 7600gt's if they will perform very well???

Basically if you had £150 and an SLI mobo what would you buy?

Thanks
Alastair

If I had a PCI-E motherboard and £150 to play with I'd buy an X1800XT for £140 and keep the rest, SLi isn't worth it for two mid-low range cards and the X1800XT is still a fantastic card for the money so I'd forget about the fact that it will never be SLi'd.

//edit I haven't seen the figures but I'd probably guess that even 2x7600gt cards would equal somewhere roughly around 1x7900gt which an X1800XT is comfortably on a par with normally and you don't have any associated hassles with dual card setups.

Will an X1800XT get this?

Thants a pair of 7300gt's from the owners thread?

On this week only they are doing a 7900gs for uner £120 including VAT. According to the blurb it'll overclock like a madman, outpacing both a 7900gt and a X1800XT. Certainly worth a look.

Yeah id get a 7900GS if you plan to give SLI a go. See my sig for benchies with SLI 7900GS cards

If not get an X1800XT/X1900XT

IMHO i think someones having someone on. A 7300gt tc (non sli) clocks in at 487 on 3dmark06 4xaa 8xaf whereas a x1800xt clock in at 1761.

I know its a turbo cache card, but i dont see two 7300gt's getting anywhere near that in 3dmark06.

Am i missing something.

That must be both the DDR3 version of the 7300gt and a fairly hefty overclock on top of that but yes I've seen an X1800XT get 5,000 or thereabouts before any overclocking and 6,000 or above with a bit of overclocking. It is up to you but I'd say there is more chance of the X1800XT being faster than a guarantee of getting a good clocking pair of 7300gts but I could be wrong here of course :)

Im upgrading from a Leadtek 6800GT AGP I assume im gonna see a decent boost?

One more question, what would an equivilant card be to the 6800gt? Performance wise but on the pci platform?

A 7600gt is about the closest(aside from the obvious comment of the 6800gt PCI-E of course), it is ever so slightly ahead of a 6800ultra and overclocks a bit better I believe but more or less the same.

Depending on what you change to yes you should see a very decent boost.

yes x1800xt with some overclocks does score nearly 6000 in 3dm06 when used with a conroe at 3.2ghz
