How about this for a new spec pc?

The best upgrade option is to just buy a new gfx card every 12 months or so. 2 gfx cards is not really much of an upgrade seeing as you'll still have old tech!

IMO STICK WITH A SINGLE GOOD GFX CARD!
 
yeah - given cash reserves as well i think i will just go with the setup as is - am taking the nvidia rather than ati as i believe it can scale proportionately on widescreens better than ati cards if needs be.
