How am I able to use splitter in micro filter?

Basically, my router is located up stairs and my house phone is located down stairs in the living room, we have a two way cable splitter that is plugged directly into the master socket.

The house phone has crackling on the long and the reason for this is because there is no micro filter on the master socket and also the broad band speed is very low. So I was told by sky to put a micro filter directly into the master socket then plug the splitter into that, then plug the wires back into the splitter.

Well I have done that, but the problem is the house phone cracking has gone but the Internet won't work at all as the connection is showing no there on the router. So I tried a different micro filter but still the problem is still there. So I unplugged the micro filter and put the splitter back into the master socket on its own and the Internet is fine but the cracking is back on the phone.

so my question is how do I get a splitter to work in a micro filter so is there some special connection for this, or can it not be done as it confuses the connection, hence the Internet not working.

Please don't say put the router down stairs because I don't want to do that, as surely there is away to get both cables working in a splitter that is also can be plugged in a micro filter.

cheers

The router must be connected to the ADSL socket on the filter. If you connect the router to a cable already filtered it will not have and ADSL signal. What cable do you run from the router and where does it plug in at the moment.

Well the splitter has two cables in it, the phone one so that that's alright the the Internet one has a long white cable running all the way up stairs in to my room then a that plugs I to a micro filter then from the upstairs micro filter there is a adsl cable running into the router. I don't under stand how plugging the splitter into the master socket works but then putting the splitter into the micro filter which is plugged into the master socket doesn't work for the net.....

It's a matter of splitting the telephone and ADSL signals, it should be done at the Master socket or as soon as possible in the wiring. You then need to make sure telephone and ADSL signals don't get joined again.

If you want your microfilter in your master socket first downstairs then you'll need to run a decent rj11 cable from the ADSL port upstairs.

The telephone side of the microfilter has no ADSL signal so it's only good for telephones.

You should be ok to go use your same wiring providing you use the microfilter for the telephone downstairs.

I have a really lone adsl cable so ill
Just have to use that instead running all the way down the stairs to the master socket then I stead using the white cable to get to my room where the router is located
