I have 2 x 5970s GPUs
Durung the hot summer I had to manually run my fans at 100%, this I only did for a few weeks, as a result one of the cards fans has brocken, making a terrible humming sound when it spins.
The other card has losts its video signal for some reason!
Mind you have have used these cards for 2 years, so the 2 year warranty ended last week.
I contacted the manufacterer Sapphire who said to contact the retailer, So I did I said that im within my 2 year warranty and the card has developed a fault, they said they could not replace the card as they no longer sell it.
I sent the card back and they gave me a full REFUND of £459 pounds WOW
I wish I bought both the cards from them, so the other card I,ll have to RMA repair.
I have allocated the refund money plus an additional £300 which takes me to a total of £700+ to buy new cards.
I am a xfire fan but the last 2 years has been a headache with regards to xfire problems.
Ps the primary 5970 card always exceeded 90+ degrees in heat during xfire set up, but now im running just 1 5970 and it never goes above 60 in full load! weird!
This really bothered me so I have to decide to get either SLI or xfire on the 7000 series.
im not keen on a dual based card by the way, it might be better to get 2x single cards
Ive been out of the scene for the last 2 years so I need to be advised what to get? either 1 really good single card or 2x ok,ish single cards
Im confused between the 680 and 7970
Im mean I would like to wait for the new ATI 8000 range cards but my current card wont survive that long.
So what do I get?
