How appallingly slow will this be?

Looking to get a laptop for my girlfriend, purely for writing and web browsing. Max price is around 150ish.

I've found a few running xp with the following specs -

2.8 celeron cpu
512mb ram
30gb ide

You get the idea.

Now, how crap would this be? Would it be usable do you think? She would do zero gaming, just word processing and web browsing.

What do you think, pointless exercise for the money or will it do the job?

If the ram is upgradeable to 2gig it'll be ok otherwise it's a piece of crap.

For around 150 you might aswell buy a tablet now. Don't bother with a laptop that spec these days.

Tablet with working bluetooth keyboard + mouse. For the price your going to pay for that you could easy get a good performing tablet.

You're right yes, but she doesn't like tablets. Its annoying, but I know she wouldn't want one as she dislikes my Vega immensely.

So if I could find a 2gb version it would be OK do you think?

What about a netbook? Could find a newish second hand one for that price which will have better specs. Although i'd agree with getting a tablet though.

Thats because the vega isn;t that good. :rolleyes:

PS... for alittle bit more cash check out the members market... some really good ones for alittle bit more than 150 ......

hmmmm, netbook good idea. I could get an aspire one or msi wind for my budget. The atom processors are pretty good aren't they?

Missed your post, I'm pretty sure its tablets in general as she didn't like the ipad either. And the Vega does just fine, infact I'm using one right now

I'd prefer new, but will take a look incase there is a really good deal, ta
