hi guys, just begun to explore the wonders of streaming media now ive got a fully cabled setup going. However my LGA775 P4 3gig single is taking a LOOOONG time to encode from divx/xvid to WMV.

Now as you all probably know im knowledgeable about hardware (see the giant sticky in GH hehe) but ive not had any hands on time with dual core setups yet. Basically whatim asking is will moving to a "Pentiumd 945 3.4ghz Lga775 Fsb800 2 X 2mb" show good gains in video codecing? Or will the gains be minimal?

Currently it takes me about an hour to do a standard movie length encode of an xvid file and about 25mins for a TV show length file.

can you not get hold of ;) Media Center Edition 2005 and just stream to the 360, thats all i do with my xvids/divx and then use transcode 360 which allows you to watch them on the fly throught media extender on the 360. Thats all i do as i cannot be bothered with all that conversion and waiting
