So my little cousin is in uni and he's doing computer science, 1 of the things he's doing is particle and fluid dynamics/simulations, I couldn't tell you specifics I just know it looked hella complicated, Anyway he had built himself a computer with the little he managed to save up and was missing a GPU and the things he's doing would be immensely helped by having a GPU, This wasn't him saying it, I got in touch with a professor at his uni and he said a GPU is pretty invaluable for getting these things done in a timely manner, Considering this is his future he's dealing with I donated my own GPU to my little cousin, My 2080 Ti, It's my only GPU but I figure his future is more important than me being able to play video games.

So now I'm on a tablet with wireless keyboard, Slight downgrade XD

Got me thinking though, How are people ordering GPU's though OCUK ? Is there a pre-order function in place or something ? I have money ready to go but I'm not going to be looking to the scumbag scalpers or anyone that price gouges.

I may end up investing my money into building my weights collection as that is part of my daily life anyway and iron is in no short supply in the world, Seems PC gaming has been going up and up and up in price the last few years, Maybe this is a good time to finally say goodnight to it :)

Buy silver and gold then, you can lift it for weights and it's an investment unlike a PC. My PC is an absolute money pit, not as bad as my car but still bad - I've spent roughly 10k pounds on PC parts in the last 4 years, car has depreciated by 13k pounds during the same timeframe

Nobody needs to spend ten k, unless your using it for some sort of work then it's not a money pit if its creating profit.

Even if you bought new 4 years ago, at 3k you'd need a new gpu today (£1500) max. You could also sell that gpu for what you paid for it. Pcs are money pits, but they ain't 10k every 4 year money pit!

Unless you just absolutely love spending money.

There should be more voucher drops this week I believe. So follow the forum close as you can for info on that. Especially the new sub-section in the Graphics card section (but also the buy sell in the members market).

This will allow you to grab a voucher for a card to bring it down to a realistic price in this current market. There's not a ton of cards available for the most part, but it's a lot less scalpers/bots fighting for them, so you stand a realistic chance of grabbing one.

Your other option is going into the Clearance section, and making OCUK an offer, but to be honest, price to performance wise, you're probably better off waiting for a voucher.

Was wondering that myself how do you spend £10k on a pc in 4 years.

I mean unless you are buying ridiculous nonsense every time something new comes out and a brand new full custom water cooling solution and the latest monitors on release, etc every 6 months.

Fact is for gaming a 3600, 1650 super and a 1080p screen is enough and 2 years ago would have cost you £600 for a full setup.

£10k you are barking mad and have a problem.

Gaming pc don't need to be expensive unless you decide to go 1440p or 4k. Even then at 1440p you can get by on a 3060. 4k is a no no if you have money issues.

The OCUK promos, whenever they go live on the new system, will be your best chance of getting a GPU. So far, these offers have been live for tens of minutes, which is unheard of in the current market :p

The next best opportunity is to sign up to an alerts system. But we can't go in to much detail on here, as they advertise OCUK competitors.

▷ 8Pack OrionX2 Dual System Extreme Overclocked… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

But being more serious i think it pretty easy to spend close to 10k on a PC

Motherboard & CPU = £1000+
£3090 = £2000
Storage Two 4TB m.2 or SSD etc = £1000
Monitor = £2000
Valve VR heat set = £1000

There 7k just there
And then you got keyboards, mouse, PSU, Games, Case, Fans, CPU cooler/water cooling, Memory , speakers etc etc

£2k on a monitor?

Are you having a giraffe?

I bought arguably the best gaming monitor available for less than £500 brand new.

Samsung odyssey G7

Also you don't need a £1000 on a CPU and motherboard. Mine cost maybe £250-£275 and again will be in the top few percent gaming wise a 3600x with a second hand b350 motherboard.

GPU again I'd say £1k tops the most I've ever spent on a gpu is £470 with a game I sold for £30 so £440. It's a 2070 super so plenty capable for majority of gamers.

Anyone spending £10k like I said is off their head.
