A little bagground: I built a new PC with a Nvidia GPU in mind. I bought a Palit reference GTX670 but had coil whine (or similar annoying sound) at idle.

I returned it and got tempted by the new, Never Settle bundle so I bought a MSI TF3 7950. The card was cool but in the end I felt I wanted a nvidia, especially since I never got the game codes.

So now I'm back with no GPU, and since I've got me some ekstra cash (which I dont mind spending, really) and I'm considering a GTX 680.

So how are the reference cards, any experience? If they aren't that good I might aswell go with a ASUS 670 but I want to be absoluteley sure.

Triple slot cant fit in my rig (Bitfenix Prodigy).

As said, the reason I returned my 7950 was because I really want Nvidia this time. :)

I should really listen since everbody keeps saying GTX670 but I just have this.. itch. :p But I've yet to recieve the money so my mind/itch can change.

I think it's because I've been AMD guy with 5850 and 7850 and now I felt like trying nvidia for a change. 7950 wasn't bad at all, but I kept thinking of if I should have bought a Nvidia all the time. PhysX is something I want to try too.

I don't know if mine was coil whine either. It was just an annoying sound which I couldn't stand.

I'll look at the Evga, thanks!

Honestly if I bought a 680 I don't think I would be too concentrated on OC'ing since I'm a 1080p monitor (I do like to downsample though).

It's just that my PC is right besides me so noise is a big factor. My reference 670 had a annoying whine at idle and I don't wanna risk that again if I buy a 680 reference card. :)
