Im looking for a new monitor primarily for gaming/ watching movies. I play a mix of FPS(bf4) and rpg and rts games. im not sure if i should stick with 24 inch or go for a 27 inch. I sit directly in front of the monitor.

Anyway the monitors i was thinking of were

YOUR BASKET

1 x Asus VN279QLB 27" Widescreen Super-Slim Bezel LED Monitor - Black £299.99
1 x Dell Studio S2740L 27" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £289.99

1 x Asus VS24AHL 24.1" Widescreen Professional/Gaming LED Monitor - Black £239.99
Total : £2,092.25 (includes shipping : £43.60).

i know **** all about monitors, only that low response times are better for fps games but i want something colourful and sharp at the same time or is that hard to find with a budget of around £300?

27inch monitors are waaay to big if you sit directly in front of them ,24inch monitors are perfect for me(but thats just me it might be different for you) and if i was going to chose between those 24inch monitors i would chose the
BenQ XL2411T Rev2.0 24" TRUE 144Hz Flicker FREE 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor - Black monitor instead of the two Asus monitors.
hope this helps :)

Yeah i was thinking about that but heard its not so good for movies and the colour isnt too great on it

Quite happy with 27" 1080p thank you very much. Tends to be people who have moved on to 1440p who say this, obviously 1440p is better on 27" plus but it doesn't mean 1080p is no good on 27", I actually like the bigger text for reading. :)

My VS24AHL just arrived today and having played some L4D2 and BF3, I can safely say it's the best gaming monitor I've had. I could detect no ghosting or input lag. Everything feels just as responsive as my previous TN panels, but with the sexy colours of an IPS.

24" is the perfect size for me and it seems huuuuuuuuuuuuge compared to my previous 19"er.

I have no experience with any of the others in the list, but I would definitely recommend this one.

Thought about one of these?

I have 3 of them now and like them a lot and the colour and gaming experience on them is excellent IMO.

Review and good settings HERE The only update to this review is AOC have confirmed a firmware update will unleash the displayport to 144hz in the very near future, and there tech support has been exceptional!
The same site also has a review on the Dell U2412M

@Atomic

Glad they've fixed that issue. When I reported it to them they said they would and they did! Nice going AOC. :)

Its great news, and as i say so far they been very good to deal with. Just awaiting an email with details as to how they intend to proceed with regards to flashing the newer firmware :D

Ive been using the dgm for about 5 months and its been great for gaming, had a 120hz before and was a bit concerned about playing fps like cs go but i have had no problems at all

I already pulled the trigger on the u2142m yesterday should be getting here tommorow. What are your guys opinions on that? should i return it and go for one of the ones mentioned.

Theres mixed reviews for this monitor some saying there is ghosting or glare and some saying theyhave had no problems at all so i don't know what to expect. Im not a hard core fps gamer by any means more of an all round gamer

I'd suggest you try it and see how you find it. :)

Received my new monitor yesterday, i'm liking it so far and its definatly more colourfull than my previous monitor. the picture is a bit dark though but i havn't tweaked around with it yet. Tested dota 2 out on it plays fine and looks great. going to test battlefield 4 on it tonight

Good service from ocuk my only complaint is the stand has quite a noticeable scratch on it

+1 on this although i am thinking of getting a higher rez screen

I have the same monitor. Only real gripe is no HDMI/audio pass through. Not an issue, but would be nice if it could be used for other purposes too (with such a nice screen).
