How bad is my CPU bottlenecking my x1950?

Hello.

I recently bought a Sapphire x1950 pro 512mb AGP to replace my BFG GeForce6600GT. The upgrade was nice and i am satisfied with it but im just wondering how badly my cpu is bottlenecking this thing.

I have an Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.1ghz, 1GB Ram and an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe.

In Bioshock at 1024x768 on High settings i'd say i average 25fps. I usually force global lightning and turn off real time reflection to get a small boost, and with that i get an average of 30fps, but can get fairly laggy in an intense fight, dropping to mid teens.

Anyway, dropping my res to 800x600 or upping it to 1280x960 has barely any impact on the FPS, clearly the CPU holding it back.

Considering my mobo and the fact i can't upgrade to PCI-E right now, is there actually anything i could do to make it more playable? Turning off the big FPS hitters in Bioshock (Post processing, shadow maps, shaders) isn't really a viable option, i may as well put my 6600GT back in and play it with that :P
