Because it's absolutely hideous, and it looks like I'm going to be having the pleasure of driving one for 2 months starting next week.

Not only that, it's the basic model (Style) 1.4 tdci so it will be as slow as a snail.

Oh yeah... and it's "amethyst" which apparently is silvery-purpley-pink.

Someone please post some redeeming features so I don't kill myself between now and Monday... please? :(

Obviously some sort of market for these cars....probably families who don't care what the car looks like and just want practicality without bus size of the S-Max.

Pug 3008 is another one that's ugly on the outside. Stunning Audi-esque interior though.

I'll tell you next week (if i don't plough it into a wall in a fit of despair)

Ok, so maybe I'm being a little pre-judgemental, but it is possibly the ugliest car I've seen (apart from a multipla) and the fact that it's the most basic equip level, smallest engine and worst colour possible doesn't help matters.

The 1.4 Diesel is shocking :(

I had a Fiesta 1.4 TDCi for the day a little while ago and it seemed OK to me. Nothing entertaining but it seemed just as competent as the little petrols (eg not very, but useable)

Not as bad as the 1.9 n/a derv 306 I had to drive on friday - thought it was broken.

It's a Fiesta on stilts, innit?. Lookswise it's awful, but if it gets you from A to B then I guess it will do for a brief 2 month stint.

No one in their right mind would buy one though. :D

Fiesta's about half the size of the Fusion though isn't it? (I didn't mention it's an estate)

Unfortunately it's not just A to B, my job is travel based, so I'll be spending 4-5+ hours a day in it. The only thing keeping me sane is the fact that I get to order a new car after the 2 months.

amethyst colur is'nt soo bad, would'nt buy a car with that colour but its not too girly if that was your concern :D Sucks about the rest though :p

My girlfirends parents have one. It's definately not a good car for driving for long periods, the pedals are really uncomfortable, more like pressing it down than forwards if that makes sence? Kinda like using a bass pedal on a drum kit. Apart from that it seems OK i guess, not very fast or pretty but it does the job.

You will have a high ride height giving you the feeling of superiority over other road users.
Well that's the impression you got from the original adverts, but side by side there's only an inch or two in the height, and they're virtually the same length and width. Ford marketing at it's best :D

You Sir, will benefit from :

* 15" steel wheels with full wheel covers
* Electrically-operated front windows with one-shot-down driver's window
* Stereo radio/CD
* Remote central double locking with illuminated entry and tailgate release
* Portable music connection socket
* Anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electric brake-force distribution (EBD)
* Driver's and passenger's airbags
* Immobiliser - PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System)
* 60:40 split/folding rear seats with folding back and flip-up cushion
* Fold-flat front passenger seat back with integrated works surface
* Driver's seat with manual height adjustment

Absolutely Fantastic! :D

It's just as bad as a 1.4 fiesta.. which is to say it's OK for getting you from A-B, but it's provides nothing more..

The only area the fiesta is better is slightly better plastics in a few places and a fraction more performance, and I mean a fraction.. :) (14.4 seconds 0-60 compared to 15.0 seconds)..

If you can live with a 1.4TDCi fiesta, you can't really moan too much about the Fusion other then looks...

* Portable music connection socket

Thank **** for that, about the only redeeming feature

* Immobiliser - PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System)

Bah, I guess that pretty much scuppers any hopes of it getting stolen from my drive then.

* Driver's seat with manual height adjustment

Driver's seat... always useful XD

I think I'm gonna cry. This is me coming from a Focus Zetec 1.6 tdci (58 plate). I'm making a guess that the difference in comfort & performance is pretty large (not that the 1.6 focus is exactly a performance vehicle) :(

dont you mean 308?
I saw one the other day, i quite liked the back end/rear quarter. Something about the forceful sweeping lines that quickly curve round and edge off made it appear quite attractive.

Ive had one for the last week or so as a courtesy car. I hated it. It was a wannabe 4x4 and made me feel like I was 60+ while I was driving it.
