How best to install temperature probes?

I just got a fan controller, and it came with a bunch of temperature sensors, but I have no idea where or how to install them. I mean I know I should stick them near interest areas like the CPU, GPU and hard drives, but for the former 2 I don't know exactly where to put it in a way that's easy to place and won't affect the current heat transferring abilities. The controller came with bits of adhesive tape, which I'm guessing is specifically made to deal with hot conditions, but not entirely sure, so wondering if you guys had any advice. Any pics of suitable areas would be a great help.

How about on the underside of the mobo where the chip is? That area will change in temperature as the core temp changes, so you will get an indication of the cpu temp variation. Then it is a case of calibrating your fan software or controller accordingly. My new mobo came with some temp probes as well, though I am going to put mine on my water cooling reservoirs, and maybe one on the back of the mobo now that I've thought of this.
